There’s a lot to be excited about for this groundbreaking event. We’ve put together a few standouts that we just can’t wait for!

1. Copenhagenize Design Co.

You heard it right. The world leader in bicycle infrastructure and design is coming to Moncton. They are known for transforming cities through sound active transportation planning. This is a can’t miss presentation!

In an age where the car reigns supreme in our urban centres, building for the bicycle is a powerful tool to modernize our cities and make them more liveable. Understanding how to design our streets for people and not for cars while following the success of a city like Copenhagen teaches us how to harness the transformative power of the bicycle, and go back to the future – when our cities were all bicycle-friendly. These lessons are causing a paradigm shift today in the minds of cities, governments, and civil society – moving gradually towards creating more democratic streets.

2 . Yasser Asmi

Yasser grew up in Syria, and arrived in Moncton just a little over a year ago. As a grade 11 student Yasser believes that cycling is important because it doesn’t only contribute to a healthy lifestyle but “it allows you to transport while feeling the surroundings and thus being able to pay attention to things you never considered caring about; you look to the atmosphere differently”. Yasser received a bicycle from La Bikery shortly after moving to Moncton and will be presenting on the inclusivity panel alongside Jenn Wambolt of Wil-doo Community Bike Club (Fredericton) and Adam Berry of Welcoming Wheels (Halifax).

3. Altruiste Bicycle Company

Altruiste is an innovative local frame builder known internationally for its efficient and clean bicycle frame designs. These world class steel frames are built right in our very own backyard and ship internationally. True to the feel of the east coast, Altruiste keeps things fun and is certain to bring a surprise or two with them to this event.
