1 – Seeking La Bikery Summer Student: Tourism Development Coordinator

Purpose

La Bikery is seeking a Community Connections Coordinator. The position is 35 hours per week from mid May to the beginning of September. The Community Connections Coordinator will assist the Executive Director with La Bikery’s open hours, and the responsibilities mentioned below. The selected candidate’s values should resonate with the organization’s mission and vision.

Background

La Bikery Co-operative is a community bicycle centre that exists to foster a sustainable, bicycle-positive environment. We see Greater Moncton as a place where people feel empowered to bring cycling into their daily lives, by being comfortable riding and commuting, and having the skills to maintain and repair their own bicycles.

Responsibilities Include:

The Community Connections Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Executive Director with the daily operations of La Bikery.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in development of eco-tourism through bicycle rentals along Riverfront
  • Assist in delivering bicycle tours along Riverfront
  • Assist with Recycle-a-Bike Program (including scheduling volunteers).
  • Assist in creating partnerships with community organizations.
  • Assist in training and scheduling volunteers (shop and reception) or coordinate training.
  • Assist with event organizing.
  • Assist in developing and delivering bike maintenance workshops for community organizations (asset)
  • Assist in development of eco-tourism through bicycle rentals along Riverfront

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Customer Service (English & French)
  • Adaptive, innovative thinker, and self-starter.
  • Outgoing, friendly, highly organized person with interpersonal communication, coordination, and supervisory skills.
  • Previous work or volunteer experience in community-based organization
  • Able to work collaboratively with a team
  • Bilingual English and French
  • Previous work or volunteer experience coordinating volunteers is an asset.
  • Skilled in bicycle mechanics and general knowledge of bicycle parts and tools considered an asset.

Compensation: $12/hour

Eligibility

To be eligible to participate in the Canada Summer Jobs initiative, individuals must:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act6; and,
  • be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.

This position is available through SEED funding from the provincial government. To be eligible for this position you must be a student with a valid SEED voucher.
